The active ingredient in this spray is Oleoresin Capsicum (O.C.), commonly referred to as red pepper. When considering which pepper spray is most effective, one must consider the percentage of pepper being used and the heat rating of that pepper (measured in Scoville Heat Units or S.H.U.). This pepper spray comes with a hard plastic case with keyring and belt clip. The holster measures in at 3 and one-half inches x 1 and one-quarter inches.

Detail Name 1: Upon direct contact with eyes, respiratory system and mucous membranes, the active ingredients in the pepper spray will cause eyes to slam shut, coughing, and an intense burning sensation to the skin. Effects should lessen in approximately 45 minutes.

Safety:: Strong irritant. Keep out of reach of children. Contents under pressure. Do not puncture or incinerate. Upon exposure, follow the first aid instructions that were included with your pepper spray.

Storage:: Store your pepper spray in a cool dry area away from heat, flame or strong light. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not store it in an environment where the temperature may exceed 120 degrees F (50 degrees C) such as an enclosed vehicle. The pepper spray cartridge may leak from over pressurization and fail to function properly. Do not store unit in a cold environment under 32 degrees F (0 degrees C). This may cause depressurization and the loss of effective range.

Expiration:: Pepper spray has a shelf life of 4 years from date of manufacture. After this date, the pepper spray cartridge should be disposed of in accordance with the environmental regulations in your area.

States With Restrictions On Pepper Spray:

Arkansas - Cannot exceed a weight of 4 ounces.

California - Cannot exceed a weight of 2.5 ounces.

Florida - Cannot exceed a weight of 2 ounces.

Hawaii - Can only be purchased through a licensed dealer such as a gun shop.

Illinois - Illegal to carry only in the city of Chicago.

Massachusetts -  Can only be purchased through licensed firearms dealers and the buyer must hold a valid Firearms Identification Card (FID) or a License to Carry Firearms (LTC).

Michigan - Cannot contain no more than 10% OC concentration, cannot exceed a weight of 1.2 oz, and pepper sprays containing UV dyes are also not allowed.

Nevada - Cannot exceed a weight of 2 ounces, and cannot be possessed by felons.

New Jersey - Cannot exceed a weight of 0.75 ounces, and cannot be possessed by felons.

New York - Can only be purchased either at a pharmacy or licensed firearm dealer and cannot be purchased through online sale.

North Carolina - Cannot exceed a weight of 4 ounces, and cannot be possessed by felons.

South Carolina - Cannot exceed a weight of 1.69 ounces.

Washington D.C (District of Columbia) - Residents who possess pepper spray must register with local law enforcement. 

Wisconsin - Cannot exceed a weight of 2 ounces, cannot be camouflaged, must have a safety feature designed to prevent accidental discharge, and the phone number of the manufacturer has to be on the label.
